Amanda Sullivan

Store Owner, Her Majesty of Awesomeness

I love my job and I love my kids, just not together. My time as a commercial airline pilot was time away from home, and it became too much. My decision to leave corporate life gave me the opportunity to indulge in my hobbies—namely knitting, quilting, and wine. Noticing the need for a local, community-based yarn shop in the eastern Centennial/Piney Creek area, I conspired with experts (Glenda) about opening my own.

Not gonna lie; one of the most enjoyable things about owning Piney Creek Yarn is the ability to knit throughout the day, meet new friends and provide a comfortable atmosphere for learning, creativity and an exchange of ideas. Come for a class, come for supplies or come to simply visit and knit.

Glenda Baker
Store Owner, Goddess of Yarn
I love to knit, crochet and sew. Those activities are part of my life, starting with crocheting at 8 years old, knitting at 10, and sewing at about 13. They have been my profession for about the last 20 years, with the last 8 being in a retail yarn shop in Denver. I know a lot about knitting, crocheting, and yarn, but constantly find that there are more things to learn.
One of the most enjoyable things about working at Piney Creek Yarn is helping customers figure out how to pull together all of the pieces of a project, and supporting them with it through completion. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends, teaching classes, and helping people create the things they envision.

Cindy Quan
Needle arts have been a part of my life since I was five years old. I've done most everything except macrame and tatting. I live on a small ranch and have alpacas, chickens, Guinea fowl, a great husband, an awesome dog, an enchanted cat, and a magical spinning wheel. I tried to retire but I missed the joy of working with people indulging in their creative passions. I found my way to Piney Creek Yarn as a customer indulging in my fiber passions. The energy of the store was joyful and I asked Amanda if there might be a place for me on the team. Luckily for me, she said yes. So, here I am, anxious to see your smiling faces and happy to help you spend your money on luscious fibers. It's just about the most fun a girl can have!

The Store's Zen-Like Vision
A love of teaching and building community in addition to tiring of the long drive for decent fiber led Amanda to consider different options. Glenda’s professional ambitions were leading her away from yarn and knitting until the two had a chance meeting. They’ve known each since the mid-1990s, but hadn’t seen each other in many years. While catching up, Amanda told Glenda about the plans for a new yarn shop. The meeting was fortuitous; Amanda’s enthusiasm, contagious. Glenda was hooked.

Together they are building a shop where people can be creative. They’re developing an atmosphere where people feel comfortable; a place where people can hang out, make friends, knit, crochet, or make whatever they can think of out of yarn.
