First Time Sock

Have you always thought that hand-made socks sounded like a lovely thing to have? They are. These socks are worked on worsted weight yarn with double point needles. Most will finish at least one sock by the end of the three sessions of class. The pattern will be provided and there is a 10% discount on yarn and needles for this project. This class is always fun.

This is the 7th pair of the Cat Bordhi's Sock Club offered as a stand alone class. This class is intended for experienced sock knitters. This is a toe up sock, using Cat Bordhi's Ridgeline Sock Architecture. Each Architecture has a master pattern so your project can be customized. On this project we'll learn how to work with this plan.

This club is a challenging adventure for experienced sock knitters. With the passing of Cat Bordhi this fall, we will honor her legacy of innovative sock knitting with this club. We will be tackling one design from each of her 8 architectures used in this book. The book is no longer in print however, paper copies, both new and used can be found at amazon.com or an e-book is available on ravelry. The book must be purchased separately from the class.

Emeline Blanket Knit Along

The Emeline Blanket designed by West Yorkshire Spinners is made up of 25 squares knit from 6 different patterns. We will meet once a month for 7 months to work on each pattern and one session to work on joining the squares and knitting the border. PLEASE NOTE: KALs are free when you purchase your yarn from Piney Creek Yarn. The sign up fee will be credited toward your yarn purchase. If you would like to participate without making a yarn purchase the sign up fee will become your class fee.

Sanquhar Gloves

Beginning Spinning

Beginning Drop Spindle Spinning

Weaving Baltic-Style Bands These bands or inkles were traditionally woven and used in northern European countries. They can be woven on a rigid heddle, inkle, or even a backstrap loom. This band is a warp-faced structure with all of the pattern yarns being placed in the warp. The patterns can be simple or quite complex, but are always beautiful. In class I will show you how to set up whichever loom you are working on. You will learn the pick-up methods used to create these fabulous bands. You can make a sample, something small (like a key chain) or start the straps for the Loom Tote. The three Technique classes, taken in any order will enable you to make the Cricket Loom Tote Bag seen in the store. Note: There is a 2 students minimum on this class. If the minimum is not met the class will be canceled and your class fee will be refunded.

Rigid Heddle Pick-Up Techniques

The rigid Heddle loom is designed for plain weave, but with a little ingenuity sticks and strings can be used to pick up individual threads and create marvelous patterns. In class you will complete a sampler of various structures and leave with a handout containing all of the details. Note: There is a 2 students minimum on this class. If the minimum is not met the class will be canceled and your class fee will be refunded.

Intro to Leno

With nothing more than plain weave and the simple concept of twisting your warp threads you can create what appears to be complex laces right in your weaving. In this hands-on class you will explore eight different structures of Leno. Then you will learn to combine Leno with plain weave and draft your own scarf pattern.
