Fancy Inkle Hatband
Weave a three-color hatband using your inkle loom, and learn new techniques along the way!
Perk up your hat with this interesting weave, which is suitable for anyone. Photo of a red, white
and blue hatband celebrates the Fourth of July in style, but choose any colors.
In the first session you’ll warp your inkle loom using 3/2 pearl cotton, then weave until after the
first design element. You’ll complete the weaving at home over the next week; and in the second
session we’ll manipulate and assemble the band, and finish your hat!
Level – must be confident warping your loom independently. This is not a beginning inkle class
Length – 6 hours over 2 classes
Maximum – 4 students
Equipment - inkle loom, shuttle, and 24 pre-made string heddles
Other – purchase the red, white and blue hatband kit at Piney Creek, which includes all the
yarns needed (the kit does not contain heddles). Or, bring your own yarns. You will need a hat
(bring to first class), and a button or fastening (you can bring this to the second class), tape
measure, straight tipped tapestry needle, scissors, notepaper and pencil
